X-Men to Invade Savannah, Georgia

I just received word that it's very likely X-Men: First Class (2011) will be filming several scenes in the beautiful, historic city of Savannah, Georgia. Although the city has been the location for several high profile films over the years, fans will probably best remember it as the location for Forrest Gump (1994) and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (1997).

According to a published report on savannahnow.com, the city has been in negotiations for months with the film's production company. Apparently, many details have to be worked out, but it looks like one of the most beautiful cities in America will once again be the backdrop for a sure-fire blockbuster flick.

If the Savannah area can snare X-Men, it would be the third major studio shoot since June 2009, when filming for the Miley Cyrus film The Last Song settled onto Tybee Island for much of the summer. That shoot was quickly followed last September by The Conspirator, a Robert-Redford directed film set to premiere this week at the Toronto International Film Festival.

  2. Hey Mandy- It'll be great to see Savannah in a superhero movie. I might have to drive down there to check out the filming myself.
