MARVEL'S AGENT CARTER: Season 2 Synopsis Hints At Madame Masque

agent carter
Marvel and ABC have released the official synopsis for season two of Agent Carter, and it drops a hint about a new, villainous character. In the description below, we learn Peggy (Hayley Atwell) will meet a Hollywood actress named Whitney Frost, who Marvel Comics readers will recognize as the name of villain Madame Masque.

The synopsis doesn't actually name drop Madame Masque, so it remains to be seen if the show will follow the comics version of the character. The series kicks off season two January 19.

Check out the synopsis and let me know what you think.

“Marvel’s Agent Carter” returns for a dynamic second season of adventure and intrigue, starring Hayley Atwell in the titular role of the unstoppable Agent Peggy Carter, working for the SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve).

Dedicated to the fight against new Atomic Age threats in the wake of World War II, Agent Carter journeys from New York City to Los Angeles for her most dangerous – and bizarre – assignment yet.
East Coast SSR Chief Jack Thompson (Chad Michael Murray) sends Peggy to work with newly appointed West Coast SSR Chief Daniel Sousa (Enver Gjokaj) to explore a strange homicide involving a body that glows and emanates cold.

Upon her arrival, Peggy reunites with Howard Stark’s (Dominic Cooper) butler and her loyal partner-in-crime, Edwin Jarvis (James D’Arcy), who welcomes her to the Hollywood life and sets her up at Stark’s mansion. There, Peggy meets Ana (Lotte Verbeek), Jarvis’ free-spirited and devoted wife to whom she takes an immediate liking.

Eventually, the odd investigation leads Peggy to quirky yet charming scientist Jason Wilkes (Reggie Austin), who quickly becomes an ally — and sparks fly. As Peggy continues to find clues in this peculiar case, she is introduced to the machinations of Whitney Frost (Wynn Everett), a movie starlet, brilliant physicist and the true power behind husband and senatorial candidate Calvin Chadwick (Currie Graham). Calvin, a politician who will do anything to get to the top, befriends Vernon Masters (Kurtwood Smith), a veteran of the War Department with a keen understanding of how to work the system. Peggy soon discovers that corruption seemingly runs deep, making it hard to distinguish the good versus the bad.

The search comes full circle when Russian spy Dottie Underwood (Bridget Regan) returns into Peggy’s life in a new and unexpected way. But even as Peggy discovers a new city, both old and new friends – and potentially a new love – she’s about to learn the bright lights of post-war Hollywood mask a more sinister threat to everyone she is sworn to protect.

“Marvel’s Agent Carter” stars Hayley Atwell (“Captain America: The First Avenger”) as Agent Peggy Carter, James D’Arcy (“Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World”) as Edwin Jarvis, Enver Gjokaj (“Dollhouse”) as Chief Daniel Sousa, Wynn Everett (“The Newsroom,” “Charlie Wilson’s War”) as Whitney Frost, Reggie Austin (“Life Unexpected,” “Devious Maids”) as Jason Wilkes, and Chad Michael Murray (“One Tree Hill,” “A Cinderella Story”) as Chief Jack Thompson.

Tara Butters (“Resurrection”), Michele Fazekas (“Resurrection”), Christopher Markus (Marvel’s “Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier”), Stephen McFeely (Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier”), Chris Dingess (“Men in Trees”), Kevin Feige (“Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Marvel’s The Avengers”), Louis D’Esposito (“Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Marvel’s Iron Man 3”), Alan Fine (“Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Marvel’s Thor”), Joe Quesada (“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Marvel’s Avengers Assemble”), Stan Lee (“Spider-Man,” “Iron Man,” “The Incredible Hulk”) and Jeph Loeb (“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Marvel’s Daredevil”) are executive producers. “Marvel’s Agent Carter” is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television.

MARVEL'S LUKE CAGE: Star Mike Colter Updates On 2016 Netflix Series

luke cage
Marvel Comics
The star of Marvel's upcoming Netflix series Luke Cage has dropped some new info on what fans can look forward to when the show debuts in 2016. Of course, we've already met Cage in Marvel's Jessica Jones series, but what can we expect to see in the new show?

Mike Colter recently spoke to the LA Times about keeping Luke Cage realistic, yet remaining true to its comic book roots -
“Anything that’s primarily Luke Cage we want to save for Luke Cage’s series. I’m not saying that you’re going to see the yellow shirt, but if you’re going to see it, it’ll be in Luke Cage’s series. I’ll say it this way. The writers have been very clever and very on point with the way they allowed this to be grounded in realism [while] paying homage to the comic book and what comic book fans know to be their world. We’re trying to bring it to the screen. I think we’re going to satisfy everyone. We’re not going to give them exactly what they want, but I think everyone will be ecstatic about what we’re willing to do for them. We know what side our bread is buttered on. To try and not give the fans what they want would be a mistake;, that being said, it’s going to be a unique way of delivering it. But they’re going to get what they want eventually.”

MARVEL'S DOCTOR STRANGE: Chiwetel Ejiofor Drops Intel About Baron Mordo

doctor strange
Marvel Comics
Some new info has surfaced about one of the main characters in Marvel's Doctor Strange, which opens November 4, 2016. Chiwetel Ejiofor - who plays Baron Karl Mordo - revealed his thoughts about how the powerful sorcerer Mordo and Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) will interact in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Here's what Ejiofor told Entertainment Weekly in a recent interview -
“In terms of his life with the Ancient One, it’s this long and intense relationship they have that’s just very deep and very connected,” says Ejiofor. “I think they both recognize in Strange this certain quality that they feel is going to be very useful in a situation they’re in — just by the nature of who he is, and the way that he operates, and the way his mind works, and the certain skill set and personality that he has. So, when they all meet, they realize that he’s somebody that can be plugged into this very surreal, interesting, sort of fascinating circumstance that they’re all in, and the dangers that they face. And so it becomes a process of assimilating him into their ways of life.”
When asked if Mordo would be a villain, Ejiofor added -
“Oh, he’s a very complex character that, really, I don’t think can be nailed down either way, you know,” the actor demurs. “I guess it’s something to experience, is what I’d say.”

Ever since Marvel announced Rachel McAdams would have a supporting role in 2016's Doctor Strange, fans have speculated about who she might play. Marvel still hasn't released the name of Rachel's character, but we now have a description of this mystery woman.

Here's how Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige described the Rachel McAdams character in a recent Entertainment Weekly interview -
“Rachel McAdams plays a fellow surgeon that has a history with Strange and is his sort of lynchpin to his old life, once he steps into he role of a sorcerer. She is someone he connects with at the beginning, and reconnects with, and helps anchor his humanity.”
Doctor Strange executive producer Stephen Broussard added -
“Rachel McAdams is sort of [Doctor Strange’s] contemporary in the modern-day New York world, before and after he goes on this crazy journey. So, she sees him before, she sees him after. She’s kind of this audience point of view.”

HULK: Mark Ruffalo Talks Hulk Vs Banner Dynamic In Thor 3

Marvel is in the early stages of preparation for Thor: Ragnarok (targeted for a Nov. 3, 2017 opening), and we have precious few details about the story. However, we've learned a bit more about the future of Hulk and how the Jade Giant might evolve in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Mark Ruffalo has revealed his thoughts about where he and Marvel might take Hulk in the upcoming Thor sequel, and beyond.

Here's a snippet from the Mark Ruffalo interview (from 12-22-15), via Yahoo Movies.
"He's on the run. I think that we carry that through. It's not just a matter of taking himself to some remote place and hiding. Now he's removing himself from humanity altogether. I'm not sure where we're going to head with that, but I'm sure that's probably still very much alive within him. It's very subtle, but the Banner/Hulk consciousness is beginning to meld a little bit. Who decided to leave? Was it Banner or Hulk? It's not really in the (cinematic) mythology of Hulk up until that moment to be that conscious and pro-active. It's interesting, right? I think it's really exciting where we could go with it. Now I feel like we're kind of in No Man's Land. I mean, the comic books have kind of broached the subject, but we're moving away from the traditional Hulk/Banner relationship. We're starting to mess with it a little bit. Now we're going to see how far we can push the limits of it before people get sick of it!" - Mark Ruffalo
