One of the visual effects whizzes working on 2016's 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' chatted recently about a scene he's working on. Joe Letteri told he and his team at Weta Studios are completing "a self-contained sequence" that fans should be able to pick out when they see it.

What do you think? Could this VFX sequence be an epic battle between Batman and Superman, or something else entirely?

Check out this new fan-made trailer for the ultimate Superman throwdown - Supes vs Doomsday. Vin Diesel Teases Involvement In Marvel's 'Inhumans' Movie

Marvel Comics
Vin Diesel has done it again. The actor has hinted at a possible role in the upcoming Marvel movie 'Inhumans' - just like he did for his role of Groot in 'Guardians of the Galaxy'.

Diesel posted a picture of himself wearing an Inhumans shirt, accompanied by the phrase "Are you Inhuman?" There's absolutely no word from Marvel about this latest tease from the actor, but it's hard to believe the studio would allow him to post something like that if there wasn't some truth to it. Check out the image below.

'Inhumans' is still three years away, but it's entirely possible Diesel has been talking to Marvel Studios about playing the main character - the eternally silent Black Bolt.

What do you think? Will Vin Diesel wind up playing Black Bolt when 'Inhumans' opens November 2, 2018?

Of course we know the star is Superman's cousin Kara Zor-El (AKA Supergirl), but a report surfaced earlier this month (Dec. 2014) that sheds some light on who else we'll see alongside Kara.

Screenrant has descriptions of four characters that are currently being cast - some of which have connections to DC Comics lore.

Will Batman Get A Solo Movie In The DC Movie Universe?

batman,ben affleck
Warner Bros.
Did you know Warner Bros. doesn't have a solo Batman movie on its schedule all the way through 2020? Yep, when WB announced its long-range plans on October 15, 2014 the only mention of Gotham's Guardian was as a member of an ensemble cast in 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice', 'Justice League: Part 1', and 'Justice League: Part 2'.

The question on many a fan's mind is whether or not Ben Affleck will star in a solo Batman movie - one that hasn't been announced yet. Thomas Roach (writing for Flickering Myth) has offered a well supported argument on why its highly unlikely we'll see The Dark Knight in his own film (at least for the next several years).

Here's one of Thomas' reasons for Warner Bros. not scheduling a Batman movie -

"A reason why there may not be any solo movies for Batman is because it is too soon after The Dark Knight Trilogy. Fans were blown away by this trilogy and it changed the face of the superhero movie. While it was more grounded realistic than other superhero movies, the latest version of Batman will likely be more faithful to the comic books, and comparisons will be made." - Thomas Roach

That makes sense, yeah? I must admit, when I heard WB omitted a Batman movie from its upcoming releases I thought they were crazy. However, on further thought I can see why it makes sense.

Confirmed! ‘Shazam’ IS Connected To The ‘Justice League’ Movie Universe

DC Comics
Just wanted to pass along this DC news in case you missed it over the Christmas festivities. A remark by an official DC Entertainment blogger has confirmed what fans have suspected for awhile - the upcoming 'Shazam' movie will take place in the same movie universe as 2012's 'Man of Steel' and 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' (March 25, 2016).

Here's the comment about 'Shazam', which appeared on a DC Comics blog post from 12-23-14 -

"For fans who were hoping to see a DC Cinematic Universe similar to what they’ve seen from other publishers, one that included super heroes other than Superman or Batman, there didn’t seem to be a lot to talk about.

That changed on October 15, 2014, when Warner Bros. revealed a full slate of ten DC Entertainment feature films all set within the same universe." - Tim Beedle

Since 'Shazam' was among the ten movies announced on 10-15-14, we know from the statement above the movie does indeed connect to the other 9 titles.

'Shazam' opens April 5, 2019.

Rumor: Is This How 'Ant-Man' Connects To The Marvel Cinematic Universe?

ant-man concept art
There's an interesting (but totally unconfirmed) report floating around today involving Marvel's 'Ant-Man'. One of the things fans have been pondering is the connection the Paul Rudd starrer will have to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and how it fits into the timeline of all the other Marvel movies.

I'll refrain from re-posting the entire rumor here because it could be a huge spoiler for next summer's 'Ant-Man', however here's a snippet from the report (via Starlog) -

"According to this anonymous party, ANT-MAN will take place alongside the events of AGE OF ULTRON, the fall-out of which will spur on the Superhuman Registration Act. While ANT-MAN is largely self-contained in nature, the references of the MCU will come from Pym’s past as a scientist for S.H.I.E.L.D. in the ’60s, having worked alongside Howard Stark, Arnim Zola and Alexander Pierce. However, in this flashback sequence, Pym will supposedly also have a run-in with a young military hot-head by the name of Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who Marvel fans have last seen in THE INCREDIBLE HULK as played by William Hurt." -

'Ant-Man' opens July 17, 2015.

Marvel / Netflix Daredevil Series Has Finished Shooting Season One

We're one step closer to seeing the new live-action 'Daredevil' series, starring Charlie Cox. We don't have a lot of info on this Netflix Original Series, but we do know it's set entirely in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of New York City and will be more of a crime drama than straight ahead superhero show.

The producer of the upcoming action/drama Tweeted farewell to New York City as the production wraps principal photography for season one.  'Daredevil' debuts in 2015 (exact date TBA).

"The Netflix Original Series 'Daredevil' is a live action series that follows the journey of attorney Matt Murdock, who in a tragic accident was blinded as a boy but imbued with extraordinary senses. Murdock sets up practice in his old neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen, New York where he now fights against injustice as a respected lawyer by day and masked vigilante at night." - Marvel

Fan-Made Trailer: Marvel's The Inhumans

Marvel Comics
One of the most beloved set of characters in Marvel Comics lore is the Inhumans, which were introduced way back in 1965. Until very recently, we've never gotten close to seeing a live-action 'Inhumans' movie, but that's about to change.

Earlier this year (2014), +Marvel Entertainment announced it would release 'Inhumans' on November 2, 2018. That gives us about four years to speculate on how Marvel will portray Blackbolt, Medusa, Crystal, and all the rest of the superpowered royal family.

However, even though we still have years to see the real thing, YouTuber Alex Luthor has created a trailer that (I think) gives a pretty good idea of what the 'Inhumans' movie might look like.

The CW
+The CW Television Network has released a 15 second teaser for Episode 310 of 'Arrow'. It's a rather mysterious clip that shows a frozen, mountainous landscape with the word "Survive" superimposed on it. A voice announces "Oliver Queen is dead."

Now, if you're wondering about the fate of Oliver after episode 309 you might be interested in what star Stephen Amell shared on his Facebook page. Amell thanked fans for their feedback and said the show was bigger than one character. However, notice he says "we're going to..." - definitely a hint that we haven't seen the last of Oliver.

"Facebook. Thank you so much for the enthusiasm spilling out of tonight’s fall finale. I’ve never had anywhere near this amount of feedback. And by feedback, I mostly mean swear words. There were an awful lot of expletives.

Seriously though: Despite the title, our show is bigger than any one character. We’re going to prove that to you.

Sit tight… January will be here in no time. xo

Jeremy Irons Talks About Alfred In 'Batman v Superman'

batman v superman dawn of justice
Warner Bros.
In case you haven't heard, Jeremy Irons takes over the role of Alfred Pennyworth in the 2016 movie 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice', and this Alfred will be much different from the one in the Dark Knight Trilogy (played by Michael Caine).

Thanks to a recent Jeremy Irons interview, we're learning more about how Alfred will be portrayed in 'BvS:DoJ'. Irons chatted with Indiewire about the superhero saga and the actor divulged a few nuggets about Bruce Wayne's loyal butler.

In the interview, Irons describes Alfred as far more than just a butler - he's someone who can call on his experience as a Royal Marine and possesses all types of skills. So, basically Alfred will be someone who is much more action-oriented (and lethal?) than any other movie incarnation of the character. On the television side of the DC Universe, the series 'Gotham' is kinda going the same route - with a badass Alfred played by Sean Pertwee.

Here's a snippet from the interview -

"Oh he'll be quite different. He has an interesting history. He's a very competent man. He's the sort of man I think anyone would like to be married to. He can sort of do everything: change light bulbs, blow up bridges if he has to." - Jeremy Irons

'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' opens March 25, 2016.
