A rumor surfaced today (12-8-14) alleging one of Batman's allies is long dead before the events of 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice'. This death would constitute a major deviation from DC Comics lore, and it's sure to get fans talking. Before you read further, be warned this would qualify as a big spoiler so leave now if you want to be kept in suspense.
Still here? Cool, let's see who kicked the bucket...
...well it seems Devin Faraci at Badass Digest claims to know that director Zack Snyder and company plan to kill off James Gordon in the backstory of the superhero saga. Faraci says a scene in the movie will show a memorial plaque honoring the late Gotham City Police Commissioner. The report also claims the screenplay won't divulge any details about how Gordon died or how it affected Bruce Wayne's vigilantism. As we know already, Batman has existed for 17 years when BvS:DoJ takes place, so that leaves a lot of time for future films to explore this topic.
If this rumor is accurate I think it's a wise decision on the filmmakers' part. BvS:DoJ already has a large cast of characters, so it would've left little time to go into the partnership of Batman and Gordon. However, I'm interested to see exactly how Snyder handles this part of the Batman mythos and whether we'll see James Gordon in a flashback.
What do you think about this Batman news?
