- The director and co-writer is Josh Trank, who brought us the low-budget (and well-received) superhero movie 'Chronicle' (2012).
- The movie will completely change the original comic book origin of the team, as created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. This new version will have the characters gaining superpowers by traveling to an alternate universe - not by cosmic rays, as in the Lee/Kirby tale.
- The cast features several rising Hollywood stars - Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm, Miles Teller as Reed Richards, Kate Mara as Sue Storm, Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm, and Toby Kebbell as Victor Doomashev.
- The Fantastic Four opens August 7, 2015.
The Fantastic Four, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel's original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy. (C) Fox" - via rottentomatoes.com
I'm sure longtime fans of the Marvel Comics version of The Fantastic Four will complain about the changes Fox is making in this reboot. However, I don't think a straight retelling of the 1960s, Lee/Kirby story would work with modern audiences. I'm a little worried that Fox hasn't revealed any footage from the movie yet, but I'm hoping for the best when this reboot drops next summer.
