Big news broke on Monday (Oct. 13) when +Variety reported Robert Downey Jr. will appear in the third Captain America solo film - slated for a May 6, 2016 opening. According to the site, the follow-up to this year's massive hit 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' will pit RDJ's Iron Man against Chris Evans' Cap.

Although +Marvel Entertainment hasn't conformed the report, Variety states 'Captain America 3' will be based on the 2006 Marvel Comics storyline 'Civil War'. If you're not familiar, 'Civil War' saw Marvel's superheroes taking sides over something called 'The Superhero Registration Act'. On one side was Captain America and his supporters, who opposed the Act, and on the other side was Iron Man and his crew, who thought the Act was a good idea.
