'Gotham': 4 new-ish things about Fox's Batman prequel | Inside TV | EW.com.

However, if you just want the condensed version, keep reading.

  • You'll see many classic Batman villains in the very first episode, but they'll introduce the other baddies much more gradually over the course of the series.
  • You might be surprised at the level of violence for a comic-inspired show. According to Heller -
“I think violence, if you show it, should be disturbing. That’s the only moral way to show violence. It shouldn’t be comical."

  • Which villains we see and how they'll evolve will depend on viewer reaction. The first season focuses on The Penguin (Robin Taylor), but other villains will be developed if the audience reacts strongly to them.
  • There'll be no specific time period for 'Gotham'. Heller says the show will be set in a "timeless world".

“If today Batman exists, then this world is the past. But it’s everybody’s past, an 18-year-old’s past and a 54-year-old’s past. So in your memory, the past is all mashed up together. So in this Gotham, it’s a kind of timeless world. It’s yesterday, it’s today, and it’s tomorrow all at the same time, because that’s the world that dreams live in.” - Bruno Heller
