According to The Hollywood Reporter, The CW network has officially stopped development of the series called 'Amazon'. The CW teamed with a couple of veteran TV screenwriters over the last year to develop the story, which would've told the origin of Diana of Themyscira, but apparently it just didn't work out.

At a recent press event, The CW president didn't shoot down the idea of a Wonder Woman series in the future, telling THR -

"It all depends on the script. We were very careful with Arrow, and we're being very careful with Flash. These are iconic characters, so we're going to be very careful with Wonder Woman. You only get one shot before you get bit." - Mark Pedowitz, The CW president

Okay, so The CW didn't think the Wonder Woman series was working, but I have to think Diana's big screen plans played a part in the decision. In December 2013, we learned that Wonder Woman would appear in the 'Man of Steel' sequel (now slated for a 2016 release). I'm betting Warner Bros. must've been concerned about the TV version of the origin story and the film version being in sync. Seeing as the screenplay for 'Man of Steel 2' is still being written (as of 1-19-14), I can imagine WB putting the brakes on any TV adaptation - for the near future anyway.

What do you think of this Wonder Woman news? Think we'll ever see a Wonder Woman TV series?
