|Ben Kingsley - Entertainment Weekly|
The Return Of Trevor SlatteryMarvel revealed today (via Entertainment Weekly) 'All Hail the King' actually stars Ben Kingsley and his character from 'Iron Man 3' - Trevor Slattery - AKA The Mandarin. According to EW, the 14 minute short continues Trevor's story after he's picked up by the authorities and hauled off to prison. The concept of the short is pretty cool - a documentary filmmaker (played by 'Argo's Scoot McNairy) interviews Slattery in Seagate Prison (Marvel's version of Alcatraz), and they discuss different aspects of Slattery's life.
One of the topics Slattery talks about is whether the terrorist organization - The Ten Rings - would put a price on his head for "making a mockery of their organization". Here's how the short's screenwriter Drew Pearce describes Slattery's predicament -
"Imagine a real terrorist organization whose beliefs were long held and religious for thousands of years, and imagine a drunk, British actor coming along and essentially telling the world that he's the face of your organization. I think they would be right to be quite angry."
The EW article is chock full of spoilery details about 'All Hail the King', and it's great reading for Marvel fans. The piece also includes four stills from the short and an in-depth interview with 'Iron Man 3' screenwriter Drew Pearce.
In the video below (from April 2013) Sir Ben talks about playing The Mandarin.
'All Hail the King' will be available on the 'Thor: The Dark World' Blu-ray when it goes on sale February 25.
