If you liked 'Thor: The Dark World', then I know you'll be interested in this three minute clip from Wired. The video focuses on what's known in the film world as 'previsualization' (previs, for short). Wired describes previs as-

"...low res CG (computer generated) sets and characters, allowing the director to see, plan out, and experiment with scenes before shooting them."

Director Alan Taylor also talks about how filming on location in Iceland and England helped give the movie a 'grounded' feel. The video also offers a peek at how the filmmakers used practical (real-life) effects. Overall, it's a great look at the behind-the-scenes magic that made 'Thor: The Dark World' such a massive hit.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - We Might Know Who Villain Number 3 Is

Sony Pictures
Just a quick post this morning about some Spidey news that broke yesterday. Storyboards from 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' have surfaced and they allegedly reveal another villain. We already know Electro (Jamie Foxx) and Rhino (Paul Giamatti) will battle Spidey, but will there be a third baddie? If these reports are true, we can expect Dane DeHaan's Harry Osborn to join the ranks of villainy in the Spidey sequel.

Check out the video for the full deets.

'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Welcomes Two Actors To The Cast

avengers age of ultron logo

For several months we've known that the follow-up to 2012's 'The Avengers' would introduce 2 new characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Wanda and Pietro Maximoff, better known as Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver respectively, are set to join the superhero team when 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' hits theaters in the summer of 2015.

What we weren't completely sure about until yesterday (11-25-13) was who would play the brother and sister combo. It was widely speculated that Aaron Taylor-Johnson was signed on to play Quicksilver, while another rising star, Elizabeth Olsen, would be Scarlet Witch. However, nothing is sure until the studio officially announces it, and that's what we got yesterday. Check out the post below from +Marvel Entertainment that welcomed the actors into the MCU.

How do you like this 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' news?

Here are all the movies Marvel Studios has scheduled in the next couple of years -

  • Captain America: The Winter Soldier - April 4, 2014
  • Guardians of the Galaxy - August 1, 2014
  • Avengers: Age of Ultron - May 1, 2015
  • Ant-Man - July 31, 2015

'Arrow' Producer Talks About Connection To DC Superhero Movies

The CW
Are you one of the many fans hoping to see a cross-over between Warner Bros.' Superman and Batman movie franchises and the company's TV series 'Arrow'? If so, you might be disappointed to hear what the producer of 'Arrow' told Fandango recently. Greg Berlanti, the showrunner in charge of The CW's hit show (now in its second season), basically said he's not aware of any plans for an 'Arrow' tie-in with the studio's movie superheroes.

Here's what Berlanti said, when asked if WB's big screen franchises such as 'Man of Steel', or Ben Affleck's soon-to-be Batman will have some company.

“We haven’t had any of those conversations other than to say, what characters are we allowed to use this year and advocate or request certain ones that are of interest to us. And every now and then, they’ll say, ‘You can’t have that guy.’ They don’t say why, and we figure out why later on.”

So, it sounds like there's not much chance of a shared universe between the WB's small screen heroes and the long-awaited 'Justice League' film. Apparently, WB isn't taking the route that Marvel Studios is using with its 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' TV series. Marvel made a point to promote 'AoS' as existing in the same universe as its Cinematic Universe. It's still too early to say whether that strategy will pay off for Marvel, but it looks like WB will keep its movie and TV properties separate for the foreseeable future.

Whaddya think? Would you like to see a shared movie/TV universe featuring DC Comics heroes?

'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' is nearing the halfway point of its 22 episode debut season, and the reviews so far have been mixed. I think a lot of viewers are disappointed with the level of interaction with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Personally, I'm waiting until the season's completed before passing judgement on the series. I think there's no doubt the show has huge potential and I'm looking forward to see where it takes us.

As for this week's installment, check out the first couple of minutes below and sound off with your thoughts.

Here's a must-see for Batman fans - a documentary that explores the psyche of The Dark Knight, and features commentary and analysis from real-life psychotherapists. 'Batman Unmasked: The Psychology of The Dark Knight' also includes great insight into the mind of Bruce Wayne from comic book writers such as Len Wein and Dennis O'Neal, as well as comments from the last actor to portray him, Christian Bale.
