hugh jackman, wolverine, movie poster

This sounds cool - have a Twitter chat with Logan himself, Hugh Jackman. According to Mashable, the star of the upcoming movie - The Wolverine - will answer fan questions on Thursday, May 2, starting at 12 noon (Eastern time in the USA). Tweet your questions with the hashtags #AskHugh or #TheWolverine - Jackman will Tweet answers from his @RealHughJackman account and @WolverineMovie.

Whaddya think of this marketing strategy for The Wolverine? Do you think more stars should use social media to promote their movies?

BTW - Director James Mangold has been Tweeting Wolverine goodies for the last few months, including the Vine and behind-the-scenes image below.

The Wolverine opens on July 26

R.I.P. Multi-Talented Graphic Artist Sean Hartter

sean hartter

I was shocked and saddened to hear about the death of artist Sean Hartter today.

Sean was only 39 when he passed away.

I stumbled across Sean's art about two years ago and I instantly knew he was headed for great success. One word described Sean's creations - cool. His work also showed a deep knowledge of movies, television, comic books, and pop culture in general.

I featured Sean's "Alternate Universe" movie posters in two posts in 2011 - here and here. I always looked forward to his next project and I was a daily visitor to his blog. Chances are, if you read pop culture blogs like Geek Tyrant and Hero Complex you've seen Sean's work.

I never met Sean, but I could tell he was an extremely nice person through the few interactions we had via his blog.

Know Your Superman History With This Cool Infographic

Superman (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
Become "Superman literate" in 3 minutes! That's about how long it'll take you to check out this infographic - The History of Superman. This graphic came along just in time because 2013 is a big year for Supes. Not only is 2013 his 75th birthday, the soon-to-be blockbuster movie Man of Steel opens on June 14.

Of course, with a graphic like this they can't include all the highlights of Kal El's illustrious career in comics, TV, and movies, but it's still a great piece of work. After reading about all the different incarnations Supes has had over the decades, it makes me wonder what's next for the Last Son of Krypton.

Hit me up in the comments with your thoughts.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - New Pics From The New York Set

Filming for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is in full swing on the streets of New York City and new pics are emerging every day. Thanks to director Marc Webb, we get a daily, behind-the-scenes image from his vantage point.

I dig Webb's Twitter strategy here. When filming began, the pics were pretty basic stuff - maybe a shot of a crew member or some obscure prop. Now that the production is into its second month, we're gradually getting much more interesting views of the cast and other important details. I can't wait  for that first Twitpic of Jamie Foxx in full Electro-mode or Paul Giamatti as The Rhino.

Check out Webb's most intriguing, recent Tweets below and let me know what you think.

Oscorp Industries still working with those eight-legged freaks.
FYI - Ravencroft Institute for the Criminally Insane is where some of Spidey's enemies have wound up.
Not sure where this pic was taken.
Our first official look at Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn - retweeted by Webb.
Another first official pic - this time Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon, who'll become Spidey nemesis Electro.

Bonus Pic

This image hit the internetz April 24. Spidey clings to the side of a building as Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) peers out.

Watch Now! Thor: The Dark World - The First Trailer Hits!

Update: August 7, 2013 - Watch the second trailer below.

"I gave you my word, I would return."

Thor fans, this is the day you've been waiting for! Tony Stark and Superman have garnered all the buzz recently, but today the God of Thunder arrives in the first trailer for Thor: The Dark World. I've been oh so curious to see some proper footage of this movie instead of on-set spy video and iPhone pics.

If you ask me, this trailer does not disappoint. It gives a great sense of the Game of Thrones-ish look that we've been promised and plenty of shots of the main players. I especially liked getting a glimpse of Christopher Eccleston as Malekith - ruler of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim. Kudos to the makeup and visual effects people for creating what looks like the most badass elf you'll ever see.

Thor: The Dark World opens on November 8, 2013

Check out the trailer and hit me up with your thoughts.

Need even more Asgardian coolness? Check these two pics courtesy of USA Today. The first shows Jane Foster and a cheerful-looking Thor in Asgard itself.

The other pic shows Thor, Mjolnir in hand, in one of the film's battle scenes (probably against those pesky Dark Elves). Be sure to read the USA Today article for some revealing info about the movie.

Iron Man 3 - Check out New Pics and Character Descriptions

iron man 3, poster, capes on film, don cheadle, gwyneth paltrow, guy pearce

Ah yes, May 3 is just around the corner, so let's get up to speed on who's who in Iron Man 3. Fortunately,  Marvel released a set of cast photos and a brief bio for each, so now everybody can be a semi-expert on the flick.

Of course we all know about Tony, Pepper, and Rhodey, but the supporting players might not be as familiar to some. The latest Iron Man epic introduces several interesting, new faces to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of these characters appear in other Marvel movies down the road.

For example, Stephanie Szostak's character - Ellen Brandt - has connections to Doctor Stephen Strange (at least in the comic books). Since we know there's a Doctor Strange movie in the works, maybe Brandt will pop up again. We'll see.

Check out the pics and let me know what you think.
Stephanie Szostak as Ellen Brandt
"Brandt is a facially scarred Extremis soldier/assassin. A physically enhanced woman with deep-seated anger and a sadistic streak, Brandt enjoys using her exceptional strength to hurt and maim her enemies."

James Badge Dale as Eric Savin
"Savin is Killian’s main henchman and the muscle behind the Extremis group. He is intimidating both in size and strength and is a stone-cold killer, willing to commit any act that Killian demands, no matter how heinous."

Jon Favreu as Happy Hogan
"Happy is the trusted bodyguard and chauffeur in charge of protecting Pepper Potts. More of a friend than an employee, Happy always has Tony’s back too, even when the eccentric billionaire doesn’t think he needs him. Steadfast and loyal, Happy would do anything to keep Pepper and Tony safe."

Guy Pearce as Aldrich Killian
"Through his privately funded organization A.I.M., Aldrich Killian created a team to further research and develop the Extremis virus, which imparts unusual levels of strength and resiliency to human subjects."

Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin
"Mandarin is the sinister head of the terrorist organization known as The Ten Rings, from which all the acts of extreme terrorism plaguing the world appear to emanate. Although he is reclusive, Mandarin wields great power and makes his presence known by striking fear in the government and the populace through his brazen plans of attack."

Rebecca Hall as Dr. Maya Hansen
"Beautiful Dr. Maya Hansen is a brilliant botanist whose work helped create the game-changing biological process called Extremis. Her discovery has the power to change the human body, but it could be very dangerous if misused."

Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts
"Pepper has progressed from Tony Stark’s assistant to the head of Stark Industries, pausing along the way to fall in love with Tony as well. Bright, loyal and honest, Pepper understands Tony Stark more than anyone and sometimes that can be both a worrisome and a dangerous thing."

Don Cheadle as Col. James "Rhodey" Rhodes
"Rhodey is the Liaison between Stark Industries and the U.S. Air Force. He is one of Tony Stark’s few trusted friends and, most of the time, has the patience to deal with the impulsive genius. Rhodey has a new suit of War Machine armor in a red, silver and blue patriotic design. When suited up, Rhodey becomes Iron Patriot."

Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark
"Eccentric genius, billionaire, philanthropist Tony Stark is the armored super hero known as Iron Man. Decompressing from his heroic, near-self-sacrificial action as Iron Man that saved New York City from annihilation, Tony finds himself unable to sleep and plagued by worry and trepidation. When his world is destroyed and those closest to him threatened, Tony must find a way to save them—and in the process find himself again."
