Check out Concept Art for Marvel's Upcoming Movies

Marvel started shipping copies of its massive Blu-ray box set this week. Did you get yours? The Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One - Avengers Assembled (damn, that's a mouthful) is a 10 disc deluxe edition that contains all of the solo Marvel movies and the biggest movie of 2012 - duh - The Avengers.

The box set also includes a book with concept art for the Phase Two movies that we'll see in 2013, 2014, and 2015. I got my first look at the artwork via AICN and Comics Alliance, and I must say I love the direction Marvel is going with Guardians of the Galaxy.

As others have noted, the "Guardians" art has a very Star Wars-like feel to it. Although the word is thrown around a lot - "EPIC" is the best way to describe the overall look.

Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase Two

  • Iron Man 3 - May 3, 2013
  • Thor: The Dark World - November 8, 2013
  • Captain America: The Winter Soldier - April 4, 2014
  • Guardians of the Galaxy - August 1, 2014
  • The Avengers 2 - May 1, 2015
  • Ant-Man - November 6, 2015
If you'd like to order the Blu-ray box set and support this blog while you're at it, here ya go. (affiliate link)

Thanks to /Film for the heads up about this video. This is a featurette that's included with the Blu-ray box set, and it shows how Marvel built its superhero movie universe.

Update: Marvel blocked the featurette, but here's a 60 second teaser.

  1. thank you... i just bought the best buy exclusive "avengers" box that retailed for 70 and it was marked down to 20... gives you the 3d, blu-ray, dvd, a marvel book, free soundtrack, light up box... for me i am done supporting the billion dollar machine... i heard bad things about the newest set for being cheaply made.

  2. Hey Jeremy I hear ya. That sounds like a great deal. I just have to point out that the box set I mentioned above has a total of 6 movies plus all the extras.
